Joyco has been providing live video production of the Jackson Championships for over 15 years. The race covers 1,500 vertical feet up the side of a double black diamond ski run that is close to a mile long at Snow King Moutain. Due to the limited budget we shoot it with three cameras, the top two requiring wireless microwave links. We feed a mobile "jumbo tron" screen at the bottom so fans can enjoy the action without having to climb the mountain. It is a very challenging live production because of the terrain and constantly changing weather. Our slow-motion replays of crashes are always a highlight. The event runs for four days, from dawn to dusk and only stops when a sled gets stuck or crashes.
